Recruitment

Regional Youth Services, Inc. believes that through quality training that addresses the specific issues of parenting special needs children, a network of foster parents will be developed that have specialized knowledge and skills to assume the role of interim parent.

Who is Served

Regional Youth Services serves several distinct groups through its Initial and On-going Training. These include:

1. The prospective foster parent receives Initial Training to learn more about the many facets of fostering a child within the framework of a foster care agency. After licensing, the foster parent continues with On-going Training to build skills in dealing with the special needs of foster children.

2. The agency is served by developing a group of skilled foster parents whose homes can be offered to referral sources.

3. The foster children themselves benefit by being in the care of adults who have special training in foster parenting.

Foster homes designated as “Special Needs” receive additional training in parenting children with issues such as violent behavior, run-away, sexual abuse victimization and/or perpetration.
